While I was home for Thanksgiving, my mama passed on Mama Kay’s copy of the Women of St. Andrew’s Cookbook. This is one of our favorite recipes from the book from Anne Costas. I made this Sunday night, and ended up making two loafs so they would cook through faster. I also used more carrot [...]

This recipe is from Barefoot Contessa (Ina Garten) and it is delicious! I made it last night and was very happy with it. I thought Annie would like the shout out to goat cheese…a yummy addition. I used ground turkey instead of the sausage called for, but thought it was still super. Salud mi amigas!
Turkey [...]

Here is my second offering for the week. This stew was absolutely DELICIOUS! It pairs well with a Malbec (yes, Annie, you’ve converted me…to goat cheese as well) and sourdough bread. This recipe is from Martha Stewart.com, but I have adapted it a bit to enhance the flavor. I also halved the recipe, which turned out delicious, [...]

I made this last night and it was so easy and so good. I’m always looking for ways to get more healthy protein into my diet…going to the meat counter helped because the chicken was already cut up and I just selected the bone-in pieces. It was also cheaper than buying a whole chicken and also less [...]

This recipe I adapted from one that calls for ground bison meat…which I’m sure would be good, but we had ground turkey…so ta-dah. It comes together really quickly and is fairly low in fat, but hearty. It makes 4-6 servings and goes well with any beer. The original recipe called to brown meat first, then drain fat, [...]

I just bought a crock pot last weekend and made these last night. They were great! (Not Luling, but still very good.)
Smoky-Flavored Barbequed Ribs straight out of Betty Crocker Slow Cooker Cookbook
3 1/2 lbs pork loin back ribs (we’ve used other varieties as well, and they’re just as tasty)
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 [...]

These were the absolute hit of my 4th of July celebration! I found this recipe last week in the coupon section of the Sunday paper and decided to make them for the 4th since I adore grilled pineapple. (Click on the recipe below to make it larger).
My variations to the recipe were that [...]

I made this roast about a week ago and it was grrrreat! After coming home from work during the week, I am so tired and cooking is the last thing I feel like doing. Stoney and I got a crock pot over three years ago as a wedding present and I finally decided to put [...]

I got this one from Rachael Ray — she called it a “fancy fakeout” and it totally is. It is incredibly easy and delish! It looks really good. The filling also makes more than I can usually use in the two tenderloins. (FYI — they come two in a pack in case you’ve [...]
